Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson crowned World Selfie Champion at the world premiere of 'San Andreas'

The former wrestling champion attempted the most selfies to be taken in three minutes and smashed the previous attempt to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Speaking before the challenge at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square, he said: "I gotta tell you, I consider myself the selfie king and I'm going to break this record in London."

And after taking his final snap, he admitted he was in pain from the attempt, but later celebrated his victory with yet another selfie while holding his official certificate.

He said: "My jaw hurts but I hope I've broken the record."

The Instagram post read: "We just set a NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for most self portraits (selfies) taken in record time (yup, a selfie world record exists and your arm gets a helluva workout). WORLD PREMIERE of SAN ANDREAS and rewriting the record books all in one night. #MicDropBoom #NewSelfieKing#LONDON #SanAndreasWorldTour MAY 29th. (sic)"

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old actor - who plays fire-fighter Ray in the movie - explained what drew him to the role and how working on disaster movies is "hard" to pull off.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I read the script and the script was great. I love the script I thought that audiences would really love seeing this, if we did it right.

"The movie is big, it's epic, there are visual effects. There are all these cool elements in a disaster genre, which is a genre that is a hard genre to get right. We gave it a shot and did something cool."
