Queen releasing a beer celebrating 40th anniversary of their biggest hit single 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

The British rock legends have teamed up with RnR Brew Ltd - who previously created the popular Killer Queen Vodka for the band - to produce a signature pilsner entitled Queen Bohemian Lager in honour of the song that was written by the late Freddie Mercury for the album 'A Night at the Opera' in 1975.

The Queen crest will feature on the label of the lager and was originally designed by Freddie while he was a student at Ealing Art College in London, where he earned a diploma in art and graphic design.

Queen Bohemian Lager is brewed and bottled in the Kingdom of Bohemia - a German-speaking province in the old Austrian Empire - where Pilsner beer was also first created in 1551.

The recipe is based on existing drink Bohemian Czech Pilsner.

The pilsner lager was born out of Plzen in the western half of the Czech Republic and previously part of the of Bohemian Kingdom back in the 1840s and became known as the Bohemian Pilsner. The brewery that was established in 1551 is based in Southern Bohemia; a region of soft water, charming countryside and great beer.

Queen Bohemian Lager has taken everything that is unique and original from Pilsner, combined it with that special Queen ingredient and produced a golden, hoppy lager with an IBU of 33 and ABV of 4.7% .

Using only Czech ingredients, Queen pilsner is produced adhering to strict EU requirements for PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certification, as granted to products of special quality and produced within designated areas in this case in the Czech republic, its similar to Champagne in the Champagne region of France.

The song 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - which featured in Mike Myers' cult comedy film 'Wayne's World' - stayed at the top of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks on its first release in 1975 and again in 1991 for five weeks, after Mercury's death at the age of 45.

The band - comprised of guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor who perform with singer Adam Lambert - still play the track in their live shows now.
