Joe Manganiello planned his proposal to Sofia Vergara three months in advance

The 'Magic Mike XXL' star - who asked for the 'Modern Family' beauty's hand in marriage whilst they vacationed in Hawaii in December - has revealed he was planning the perfect proposal back in September.

He told PEOPLE magazine: "I knew I was going to marry her. Even as early as the filming of 'Magic Mike XXL' in September.

"I knew I was going to propose to her. I was planning it while we were filming."

Meanwhile, Joe previously revealed he made a speech to Sofia in Spanish before he got down on one knee.

He said: "I had a huge speech. I had three years of Spanish in high school and I was really good, really fast. Then of course, twenty years go by, I forget it all now.

"I'm gonna marry a Latin woman, so I'm in a rush to get it all back, but I prepared this big speech that I gave to her on Christmas when I proposed."

The 38-year-old actor also admitted he waited "four and a half years" for Sofia to be single.

He shared: "I called and she was like, 'I'm shooting this movie in New Orleans. Whey don't we go out when I get back?' I was like, 'No f**king way. I waited four and a half years for you to be single. I'm not going to miss my window.' I got on a plane to New Orleans and took her out. Best decision ever."
