Ed Sheeran helped Kodaline's Jason Boland get engaged

The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker welcomed the band's bassist on stage following their support slot at Dublin's Croke Park on Saturday night (25.07.15), where the musician asked his long-term girlfriend Etaoin Corr to marry him in front of 80,000 fans.

Taking to Twitter after his show, Ed wrote: "Thank you to Kodaline and Glen Hansard for joining me on stage today to sing some tunes. And congratulations to Jay, what a way to propose ! (sic)"

The shock proposal came just hours after the 24-year-old singer teased the crowd were in for a special treat at the concert.

Earlier in the day, he tweeted: "Something planned for tonight you won't expect (sic)."

It's not the first proposal the BRIT Award winner has helped happen, having performed his song 'Tenerife Sea' while Rixton's Jake Roche proposed to Little Mix's Jesy Nelson just a week ago in Manchester.

And Ed - who will kick off the North American leg of his 'x' tour in September - joked about the romantic event by suggesting he only helped out with it because he was given some fried chicken in return.

Jake tweeted: "Travelled 5 hours to sing our favourite song on his day off. I will never ever be able to repay you. Love you pal. @edsheeran (sic)."

To which Ed replied: "@Jake_Rixton my absolute pleasure. Thanks for the KFC (sic)."
