'Fashion Police' reboot honoured the late Joan Rivers with a new "What Would Joan Say?" segment

The E! show returned on Monday (31.08.15) for a special MTV Video Music Awards episode with Melissa Rivers joining Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski on the panel.

During the show, Melissa - who lost her mother last September at the age of 81 - shared how she is always asking "what would my mom say about this?" when thinking about the show Joan made a success before introducing the new part of the series.

Co-producer Melissa said: "There isn't a day that goes by when I don't see something and think, 'What would my mom say about this?' Let's find out in our newest segment, 'What Would Joan Say?' "

Meanwhile, former panellist Kelly Osbourne congratulated Melissa on the "awesome show" and she replied thanking her for the "amazing" flowers she sent.

The 30-year-old presenter tweeted Melissa: "@MelRivers congratulations on an awesome show tonight! (sic)"

To which Melissa responded: "@KellyOsbourne I love you!!! The flowers are amazing and you owned the lavender carpet! Xxx #friends #mysister (sic)"

Several stars also took to social media to praise Melissa - who took over from her mother as the main host for the show - including Gigi Hadid who is "so happy" 'Fashion Police' is back.

She wrote: "Soooo happy @e_FashionPolice is back!!!!!! (Even though there are mixed feelings about my VMA's look good to laugh at urself sometimes) (sic)"
