Katy Perry pays emotional tribute to her make-up artist, Jake Bailey, who died on Friday

Jake, 37, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles with officials reporting the cause as a possible suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning, and Katy has led the tributes to the celebrity make-up artist.

She wrote: "Jake- My sweet, sensitive soul. What a wonderful journey and friendship we had together. What beautiful art we created together. We conquered the world's biggest stages, together. I know you felt life so intensely and it created this incredible artistic passion in you that came out in everything you touched, from the amazing images you took to the ways you painted your muses, highlighting the beauty in everyone."

Katy added: " I know sometimes it was hard to find consistent happiness here on this earth, I understand you in that way. I want you to know now finally and forevermore that I appreciate you and all the lessons we traded each other in this life. I love you. No more work, no more searching, you are finally at peace."

Emmy Rossum also took to Twitter to share her sadness, writing: "I am gutted to hear of my friend Jake's passing. I saw him on Sunday, we flew together on a plane. He made me laugh as always. @ByJakeBailey.

"I will miss his sense of humor, talent and kindness. If there are angels in heaven, they just got a little prettier. Because Jake is up there painting their faces... putting lashes on them..(sic)."

Jake's celebrity clients included Lea Michele, Christina Aguilera, Angelina Jolie, Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Selena Gomez.
