Tina Fey has praised her late father Donald Fey for being such a "Great American'.

The 'Saturday Night Live' writer's father passed away on October 18 at the age of 82 and the actress has taken the time to remember him not only as a "great" father but for his work as a writer and artist and for serving Korea as a fireman.

Speaking to Philly.com, she said: "He was a great dad and a talented artist and writer. But I also think of him as a Great American - he served his country in Korea, he served his city as a fireman, he took his kids regularly to art museums and historical sites."

The 'Mean Girls' star also remembered a fond memory of Donald teaching her how to play catch.

She recalled: "When he taught me how to play baseball he would say to me, 'If you throw like a girl again, we're going in.' (I took it in the spirit it was intended.) He read poetry and history and newspapers. He was an informed patriot. The Republican Party should have tried to clone him."

Meanwhile, it was announced that Tina and Amy Poehler will be replaced by British comedian Ricky Gervais to host the Golden Globes 2016.

NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt, confirmed: "We're excited to have Ricky Gervais back to host the most enjoyable awards show of the season in his own inimitable way. Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor -- and send up -- the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seats belts."
