Selena Gomez is obsessed with Amy Schumer.

The 'Come and Get It' hitmaker was delighted to be asked to present the 'Trainwreck' star with the Hollywood Comedy Award at the Hollywood Film Awards, joking she didn't think she would have been first choice but was still thrilled to share a stage with the funnywoman at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

She told the audience: "I talk about her obsessively. I've tweeted her often. I try to impersonate her and it doesn't really work.

!I actually just met her so basically what I'm saying is I'm really happy that clearly Jennifer Lawrence wasn't able to do this tonight because I love you."

However, when she took to the stage, the 'Inside Amy Schumer' star was quick to reassure the singer-and-actress that she had always wanted her to present her with the accolade.

She said: "I didn't even ask Jen--Selena, you were my first choice."

Selena, 23, also praised Amy for being inspirational and the first comedian "to speak to the women of her generation."

She added: "Amy, you've inspired me not take myself too seriously when I sit on my couch and I'm depressed about certain things.

"You constantly made me feel I'm a bad ass even though most of the time I'm not. You say the things I wish I could say and you never ever make feel bad about anything I do in my personal life."

Elsewhere at the ceremony - which was hosted by James Corden - Robert De Niro took home the Hollywood Career Achievement Award, while Carey Mulligan picked up the Hollywood Actress Award for her role in 'Suffragette' and Will Smith's performance in 'Concussion' earned him the Hollywood Actor prize.

'The Danish Girl' scooped prizes for director Tom Hooper and Hollywood Breakout Actress for its star Alicia Vikander. Joel Edgerton was honoured with the Hollywood Breakout Actor Award for his portrayal of a corrupt FBI agent in 'Black Mass'.
