Hulk Hogan believes his firing from the WWE was a test from God.

The 62-year-old grappling legend had his contract terminated by World Wrestling Entertainment - the company he helped turn into a household name - in July after a transcript from an unauthorised sex tape recorded in 2007 was leaked and revealed him using a racial term but he's convinced him getting the axe and everything he has been through has been a test of his faith.

Speaking to fans at his 'An Evening With Hulk Hogan' show at the Sheffield Arena in England at the weekend, he said: "I believe God is doing this for my higher good. To me it's a test, of faith.

"You guys are loyal. You know I've made a huge mistake or said something really dumb. That's because I was mad or at a low point in my life, but that's not who I am. I'm not done yet, I need to learn another lesson. All this stuff happens to make me a better person. That's how I look at it."

Hogan - whose real name is Terry Bollea - also paid tribute to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, insisting although he was let go from the company this year he still loves him as a friend.

He said: "There are two Vince McMahons. On a personal level I love him to death, as a business man I respect him. He's a good guy. He really is."

At the event, Hogan met with over a thousand fans to sign autographs and pose for photos before taking part in the Q&A which was hosted in a wrestling ring.
