Rose McGowan has criticised Caitlyn Jenner over a joke she made at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards last week.

The 42-year-old actress has lashed out at the 'I Am Cait' star - formerly known as Bruce Jenner prior to her gender transition surgery this year - after she quipped the hardest thing about being a woman was deciding what to wear when she picked up her gong at the event in New York.

Taking to her Facebook account, Rose fumed: "Woman of the year? No, not until you wake up and join the fight. Not by a long f***ing shot. Caitlyn Jenner you do not understand what being a woman is about at all. You want to be a woman and stand with us - well learn us.

"We are more than deciding what to wear. We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you." The 'Charmed' star then went on to post a series of disturbing memes, which she has since deleted, of women being sexually abused alongside several of Caitlyn's quotes.

This isn't the first time Rose, who is known for her outspoken comments, has unleashed her acid tongue as Kate Winslet was in the firing line earlier this week.

The brunette beauty slammed the 40-year-old actress for saying she felt uncomfortable discussing the gender-gap pay.

Despite Rose's criticism over her joke, Caitlyn made an emotional speech on stage as she collected the Transgender Champion award at the ceremony held at New York's Carnegie Hall.

After accepting her prize, Caitlyn said: "I'm so blessed I have family. Not one has abandoned me they've been supportive of me, it's been great ... I sat each one of them down and said to them this is my story this is who I am - what can I do.

"I sat down with my pastor, talked to him, about my issues. And yes, I had a lot of conversations with God. And I came to the conclusion that you know what, maybe this is why god put me on this earth. To tell my story. To be authentic to myself about who I am and in doing that, maybe you can make a difference in the world. What a great opportunity in life to have. So few of us ever get that opportunity."
