Julianne Hough won’t be smoking in ‘Grease: Live’.

The 27-year-old actress will star as Sandy in the upcoming live television adaptation of the 1978 movie.

One iconic scene in the film sees a post-makeover Sandy light up a cigarette to impress John Travolta’s Danny Zuko.

But Julianne won’t be resorting to nicotine to impress her man.

She said: “We will not be having a cigarette. I don’t know . . . there’s the option of gum! There’s always the option of ‘I don’t need the cigarette.’ I can just walk down there and show what a strong sexual confident woman I’ve become.”

‘Grease’ tells the story of a romance between good girl Sandy and T-bird rocker Danny. The beginning of the film sees Sandy in very twee, demure outfits, before the closing scenes see her poured into a skintight catsuit.

And it’s amazing the difference an outfit can make, as Julianne admitted her whole demeanour changed when she put on the catsuit.

She added to HollywoodLife.com: “I just completely embodied what Sandy was. I had the good girl Sandy on first and felt quite demure. My posture was different, and then when I put those [black] pants on it was like I felt confidence and sexy.”

Julianne has made a name for herself as an actress, after originally finding fame as a professional dancer on ‘Dancing With the Stars’.

She has since joined the panel as a judge, but is unsure whether her judging role will continue in the next season.

She said: “I am not sure. It goes from season to season, and they usually wait ’til a few weeks before. I don’t know what is going to happen. But regardless I am a part of that family forever and they are a part of mine. So whatever happens, happens, but I will always be a part of the family!”
