Bobby Brown is doing "as good as can be expected" after a difficult year.

The 47-year-old singer's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away in July, six months after she was found unresponsive in her bathtub, and Bobby is still coming to terms with the tragedy.

A source told E! News: "This has been a difficult year. When a person goes through something like this it makes you look around and think, 'What the hell is going on?' When you bury your child, it's just really hard—it's not how it's supposed to go.

"Under the circumstances, he is doing as good as can be expected."

Bobby turned 47 on Friday (05.02.16) and had planned a low-key celebration with his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown and their two children, son Cassius, six, and six-month-old daughter Bodhi.

The insider said: "Bobby will be remembering the wonderful days with the family that is no longer here—Krissi, Whitney [Houston, his ex-wife] and his parents."

It was previously revealed that Bobby has penned a deal with publishing company Dey Street Books to release his own memoir entitled 'My Prerogative' to document the anguish he went through when his 22-year-old daughter passed away.

He said: "Right after I signed on to write my story, I went through one of the most agonising traumas I had ever experienced with the death of my daughter."
