Jennifer Aniston drinks lemon in hot water every day.

The 47-year-old actress – who is married to 'Zoolander' screenwriter Justin Theroux – revealed her morning ritual includes sipping the diluted bitter fruit because of it has “alkaline” benefits.

She said: “It’s great to put that alkaline into your body first thing in the morning. We’ve got to really be conscious and mindful around what we put inside our bodies. And how we sleep and how we eat and how we take care of ourselves.”

The 'Cake' star follows her morning drink with a breakfast shake which includes more fruit and a lot of chocolate flavours.

She shared: “I’ll put in bananas, cherries, blackberries, a greens powder, a collagen peptide, a little cacao powder, chocolate stevia drop and chocolate almond milk. You can see I like chocolate-flavored. I don’t like protein taste.”

Rather than reach for a packet of biscuits or crisps when she's feeling peckish, Jennifer – who is well known for taking care of her body and practices pilates every day – opts for a mid-morning hard boiled egg.

She added: “I’ll have one a few hours after I have my shake.”

The beauty also enjoys salads and lots of fish for lunch and the occasional pasta dish in the evenings, but despite her seemingly non-indulgent eating regime, she thinks she isn't as “strict” on herself as she once was.

She told People: “I’m not as strict as I was. It was always sort of a monitored watch. Then I thought, just give yourself moderation.”

And Jennifer added that the definition of beauty is: “Really learning to love every single thing about yourself. And also realizing that it’s not just clothes and what’s happening [on the outside]. There’s so much more that’s beautiful in a human being.”
