Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn are “pretty much the same person”.

The ‘Almost Famous’ star is really similar to her actress mother, according to director and close friend Garry Marshall.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine at the New York premiere of ‘Mother’s Day’, he said: “They're pretty much the same [person]! [They're] both funny, have a fun time on the set and help me a lot with my gag reel!”

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old beauty previously revealed her and her family are incredibly “open” with each other but she shares a particularly close bond with her mother.

She added: “Unfortunately or fortunately, our family is very open. There's some things that we don't necessarily want to know about each other, but everything is out on the table in our family.

“My mom is my great confidante. I pretty much do tell my mom everything. It's vice versa.”

And Kate is particularly impressed with the 70-year-old star’s use of social media, joking that her account on Instagram needs monitoring.

She said: “I think my mom's Instagram posts are totally crazy - in the best way ... Yeah, that's my mom. I don't know what's going on. Sometimes I feel like commenting to Kevin at Instagram, who owns Instagram, that he needs to take down her Instagram account. He needs to monitor my mother's Instagram account.”

But despite her mother's Instagram addiction, the ‘Bride Wars’ beauty can always rely on Goldie for advice.

Kate explained: "I think what they have, in terms of connection, is really rare and beautiful and something to strive for. But it doesn't come without its stuff, [as do] all relationships."

When asked what was the best advice Goldie has given her, she added: "Be true to yourself. When you're connected intimately [with someone], it's a huge time of growth. [You have to] accept what that is and to go there, even when it's uncomfortable, [that's] the time you learn the most about yourself."
