Janet Jackson brother has confirmed she is expecting a baby and he hopes that it will be a girl.

The singer - who will turn 50 on Monday (16.05.16)- is set to welcome her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana and Jermaine is hopeful that she will have a daughter because he thinks the Jackson family has enough boys.

He told PEOPLE: "I hope she's having a girl. We need more girls in the family. There are too many boys."

"My sister Janet is my baby. She is fine but she's having a baby. A baby having a baby. We look at her like our little baby and now she's grown and having a baby. I'm proud to be an uncle and I can't wait to see how this baby is going to look."

And Jermaine, 61, insisted his younger sister will be an excellent yet strict mother.

He said: "She'll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict.

"But I tell her, 'If you need any parenting skills or baby skills, let me know because I'm the best diaper changer there is on this planet, still to this day.'"

Janet's pregnancy was revealed just one month after she postponed her world tour because she is "planning a family" but she has yet to confirm the pregnancy news.

She said in a video message to fans: "Hey you guys, on August 31 I launched the 'Unbreakable world tour.

"First I want to thank all the fans for coming out and seeing the show, you guys made it so enjoyable each and every night.

"We are in the second leg of the tour and there's been a sudden change and I thought it was important you be the first to know.

"My husband and I are planning a family so I'm going to have to delay the tour.

"Please, if you can, try and understand it's important that I do this now, I have to rest up, doctors orders, but I have not forgotten about you, I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can (sic)."

She previously postponed 29 US dates on the tour after being advised to have surgery and rescheduled them for July and August.
