Jason Derulo wrote Daphne Joy a song to explain their break-up.

The 26-year-old singer - who was previously engaged to Jordin Sparks - recently called time on his relationship with model Daphne, 29, the mother of 50 Cent's three-year-old son Sire Jackson and expressed his feelings in a song.

He told PEOPLE: "There's one that I did that talks about it pretty spot-on. I actually sent it to her, too. A lot of times, she's like, 'You don't speak to me. You're not talking to me. I don't get it.' So I wrote it in a song, and she was like, 'It's clearer now.'

"It's crazy how that is. Sometimes we're better at certain things. Where somebody may be a better talker than me, through a song, I'm able to explain anything."

And despite the split after six months of dating, Jason insists he and Daphne are still close.

He said: "We're still really close, so it's all good. Whereas other breakups don't always end so well, this one is very amicable."

The couple were first romantically linked in November, and although Daphne denied they were dating at first, it wasn't long before they took their relationship public, leaving 'Candy Shop' rapper 50 Cent shocked.

Responding to an Instagram photo of the couple, he wrote: "But don't worry baby, I'm fine just a little shook up. LMAO Good Morning (sic)."

Meanwhile, Jason previously revealed he would love to use Tinder to find his ideal woman, but only if they launch a celebrity version.

He said: "Social media and dating together is the new wave. I would [join] if it wasn't so unpredictable. I'd probably meet some huge fans, but otherwise it's not a safe bet. Maybe if they come up with a version of Tinder for celebrities, then I would do it."
