Taylor Lautner has joined the cast of 'Scream Queens'

The 'Twilight Saga' heartthrob will appear in season two of the Fox series as Dr Cassidy Cascade and took to Instagram to reveal his excitement.

He wrote : "Big news everyone!! Thrilled to be joining @screamqueensFox it's going to be such a blast playing Dr Cassidy Cascade. The season 2 premiere is Tuesday, September 20 at 9pm on Fox! (sic)."

Season two of the show moves the action from a university campus to a hospital, where fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.

Taylor's character is a doctor at the hospital who suffers from a strange medical condition and becomes a suspect when a series of tragic events plagues the institution.

He joins fellow new addition John Stamos, who will play Dr Brock Holt, the hospital's brilliant but secretive head surgeon.

Season one stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Glen Powell and Niecy Nash are all set to return for the second series and Niecy recently revealed viewers can expect a "darker" tone.

She said: "I think it'll be dark. I think it's going to be very dark. It's in a hospital, [there's] a lot of darkness in hospitals - dark hallways, scary rooms, sharp objects, a lot of blood, disinfectants."

Along with the 'Twilight Saga', Taylor has also starred in 'The Ridiculous Six', 'Tracers', 'Abduction' and 'Valentine's Day'.
