Liam Payne has purchased a diamond ring for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

The 22-year-old One Direction star has splashed out on a huge sparkler for the singer's 33rd birthday on Thursday the 30.06.16 and fuelled rumours they're planning on tying the knot.

The bespoke ring features a black diamond nestled in a bed of rubies and is said to be inspired by the former Girls Aloud singer's rose tattoo on her bottom.

However, a wedding would have to wait until Cheryl's marriage to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini - whom she wed in 2014 and split from late last year - is finalised and the pair are said to be locked in a battle over finances, with Jean-Bernard hiring a "top lawyer".

The looming divorce hasn't stopped the brunette beauty's blossoming romance with Liam and bookies have even slashed odds of the hunk proposing from 6-1 to 4-1.

A William Hill spokesman told the Daily Star: "At first it looked like the relationship would struggle to see out the month.

"But the pair have confounded the doubters and a proposal may not be out of the question."

Meanwhile, Cheryl won over Liam's family after they recently attended his sister Ruth's wedding together and the 'Crazy Stupid Love' hitmaker got on well with his parents Karen and Geoff.

A source told: "Cheryl has completely won them over, and now they're both convinced she could be The One that Liam could finally settle down with.

"Karen is now convinced Cheryl is the perfect candidate to be Liam's wife."

And the happy couple - who have been dating for eight months - are also reportedly keen to start a family.

An insider shared previously: "It's very serious now between Cheryl and Liam and they have been talking among close friends about starting a family. Cheryl is happier than she's been since the good days of her marriage to Ashley Cole.

"She's content and while they're in the honeymoon period, this feels like a connection for the future."
