Jennifer Hudson hopes Prince is "pleased" with her BET Awards tribute to him.

The 'Spotlight' hitmaker was just one of the stars to perform a tribute to the late 'Purple Rain' singer - who tragically passed away in April at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota - at the awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

Writing on Instagram after the performance, she shared: "back in my sweats and by the pool ! I hope yal felt my heart tonight in my tribute to Prince ! One of the things prince told me that I will never forget he said "take it to church Jennifer " I can only hope he's pleased ! (sic)"

Meanwhile, Prince's former fiancée and collaborator Sheila E. also performed at the ceremony, ending the show with a medley of Prince's hits including Earthquake,' 'Erotic City,' 'Let's Work,' 'U Got the Look,' 'America the Beautiful,' and 'Baby I'm a Star.'

Speaking before the show, she said: "It's about his legacy. Those songs, he left them for us forever. They are forever embedded in all of us, and I think we're going to have a wonderful time."

Meanwhile, Prince's friend Judith Hill previously revealed the star "fought for his life" after he took an overdose of the highly-addictive drug Percocet, whilst flying back to his home only days prior to his death.

Judith, who was on the ill-fated flight, recalled: "We knew it was only a matter of time; we had to get down. We didn't have anything on the plane to help him. [When we arrived at the hospital], he was awake, which was such a relief to me, because I thought he was gone ... He wasn't dreary or drowsy, or anything. He wanted to watch 'Zootopia'. He loved those films. I was going to pull it up on my phone. He said, 'No, no, no, not here. We're going to pick a special time and place to watch that.' He was very cooperative that whole night, serious about getting help.

"He did it because he was concerned, and he wanted to do the right thing for his own body. And that's the part that breaks my heart, because he was trying. He was trying ... He told me, 'I had to fight for my life. I remember hearing your voices from afar and saying to myself, 'Follow the voices, follow the voices, get back in your body, you gotta to do this.' And he said it was the hardest thing he'd ever done, to get back into his body like that."
