Jennifer Saunders plans to make a sequel to 'Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie'.

The 57-year-old comedian penned the much-anticipated new film, which is based on the popular sitcom, and has revealed plans are already in the works for her to create a follow-up.

Speaking at the world premiere of the movie in London's Leicester Square, Jennifer said: "We're doing it again, certainly. I want this again. If people go and watch it, yes."

Jennifer's long-time collaborator Joanna Lumley - who has reprised the role of Patsy Stone for the movie - admitted shooting the film without a studio audience had been "tricky".

Joanna said: "It's tricky not having the studio audience and without the laughter. That created an atmosphere.

"To reprise anything brings challenges and some people won't like it - but they don't have to see it.

"But there's so much good will with it hopefully people will be less inclined to be critical.

"And it's the same cast and Jennifer wrote it, so it's not like the 'Dad's Army' film being updated with new people."

Meanwhile, Helen Lederer, who plays Catriona in the sitcom-turned-movie, revealed she fully expects Jennifer to make another 'Absolutely Fabulous' film.

Helen also raised the possibility of the concept being turned into a musical, although she conceded it ran the risk of failing "spectacularly".

She told The Sun newspaper: "Jennifer realised making the film was so much fun and has created so much work for a lot of people that now it's almost her responsibility to keep it going.

"I have a funny feeling there will be one (a second film) and who knows what else. I'm just saying, it could work as a musical. Although the thing with musicals is when they fail they fail spectacularly."
