    'Game of Thrones' leads the Emmy nominations with 23.

    The fantasy TV series - now in its sixth season - racked up just one nomination more than 'The People v OJ Simpson', which is the first series since the 1990s to achieve over 20 nominations in its first season.


    'Game of Thrones' will face off against 'The Americans', 'Better Call Saul', 'Downton Abbey', 'Homeland', 'House of Cards' and 'Mr. Robot'

    in the Best Drama category, while it also picked up a number of acting nods.

    Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington will compete for Best Supporting Actor, while Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams have all been nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

    'The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story' will compete in the Outstanding Limited Series category alongside 'American Crime', 'The Night Manager', 'Fargo' and 'Roots', while also picking up nods in the Outstanding Actor/ Actress in a Mini-series or Movie categories, along with Supporting Actor.

    Meanwhile, 'Fargo' received 18 nominations, 'Veep' got 17 and 'Saturday Night Live' scooped 16.

    Nominees for the Variety Talk Series include 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee', 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', 'Last Week Tonight With John Oliver', 'The Late Late Show With James Corden', 'Real Time With Bill Maher' and 'Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon'.

    Beyoncé also received four nominations for her visual album 'Lemonade', which aired on HBO.

    'Gilmore Girls' actress Lauren Graham and 'black-ish's Anthony Anderson announced the nominees for the 68th annual Emmy Awards, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on September 18.
