Britt Ekland's cosmetic surgery has "destroyed" her face.

Speaking openly on 'Loose Women' on Thursday about the beauty procedures, the blonde star said: "'I have always been so insecure and I have never been satisfied with my looks.

"I was under a contract with 20th Century Fox, and as soon I had that contract they filed down my teeth and changed my name. It's just a job, but as an actress you do whatever you're told.

"They did a terrible thing ... what they did was put a lot of stuff in my lips, but I had to live with newspapers printing horrible pictures of me.

"What they didn't understand was the man who did that used me as an experiment, and he destroyed this [her face].

"For a long time I couldn't do TV or films. It's been very traumatic in my life.'

The Swedish singer - who suffered with body dysmorphia when she was younger - has admitted she didn't appreciate her beauty until now.

She explained: "I can see the pictures of myself on the internet, and how gorgeous I was, but at the time I didn't see it."

And Britt has revealed her insecurity stemmed from her childhood days when she was bullied for the size of her features.

She explained: "I was a very little fat girl. I was about 11 or 12 and I was fat till I was 15.

"When I was at school my ears pointed out and my teeth stuck out - I had them filed down in Hollywood - but yes, people used to call me Dumbo!

"But knowing what I know now, I would tell parents do not let your children get fat at 13, because that is such an important stage in a child's life."
