Wale has become a father for the first time.

The 31-year-old American rapper – whose real name is Olubowale Victor Akintimehin - has announced his girlfriend Chloe Alexis gave birth to a baby girl called Zyla Moon Oluwakemi on Friday at a hospital in New York City, and the new parent broadcasted the news with pride via social media.

He tweeted: “I never cried and smiled at the same time until today.

“She so beautiful slim... She perfect

“My baby chocolate and beautiful #BlackGirlMagic (sic).”

Following the arrival of his new bundle of joy the ‘Dig Dug (Shake It)’ hitmaker was forced to cancel his performance for the One Africa Music Festival, which was held at the Barclays Center, New York, last night.

According to TMZ the singer songwriter – who signed to Allido Records in 2007 after being discovered by music producer Mark Ronson one year earlier – remains in hospital with his beau and their little tot at the hospital.

It has been reported Chloe went into labour on Wednesday (20.07.16) and endured a painstakingly long delivery, but the mother and baby are doing well.

Meanwhile, Wale has gushed about the new addition to the family and his parenting role with a heartfelt message on his Instagram account, in which he revealed he kept Chloe’s pregnancy under wraps following a tragic miscarriage in 2015.

Alongside a picture of Zyla holding his finger, he wrote: “Overjoyed . I keep the most important things in my life so far away from people because I'm sensitive . Quite possibly too sensitive to even be in this business nevertheless I spoke on the downward spiral that ensued after complications with my previous child... For that reason I kept this very private as I prayed every day to receive this blessing . Thank You to all my friends so many , Iman/Teyana . Draya and O.Mel and Robyn. Finn Balor Neil Lawi. Bryson, Kehlani WizardEd.. So many ppl that stayed up wit me and talked me thru such a sensitive subject ... I named my album SHiNE when I knew my babygirl was on the way ...I want to be a better man than I ever been. I'm so flawed I'm so imperfect and the world knows it... I just want to honestly be the best version of myself I can be.. My focus is renewed I'm infinitely in love with my princess and I truly appreciate all the love you have shown her and how understanding many people who knew were .imma keep workin on me and pray to God I can design a young princess who flourishes to an absolute queen .. I got u baby ... U go girl .. You are my everything and I'll see to it we SHiNE my precious Zyla (sic)."
