Eddie Redmayne's favourite Harry Potter film is 'Deathly Hallows - Part 2'

The 34-year-old actor is now part of J.K. Rowling's wizarding world as he plays Newt Scamander in upcoming spin-off movie 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them'.

Redmayne enjoyed all of the film adaptations - which starred Daniel Radcliffe as the titular boy wizard - but the finale which pits Harry against his sworn enemy Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is the one that always sticks out to him.

In an interview Entertainment Weekly magazine, he said: "My favourite film is probably the finale - 'Deathly Hallows: Part 2'. With the last two, they had something I kept re-watching, going back and watching Ralph Fiennes and Daniel Radcliffe do that extraordinary duel."

'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' director David Yates was responsible for helming the two 'Deathly Hallows' movies

In the Q&A, Redmayne also revealed that his favourite 'Harry Potter' book is the story that kicked off the series, 'Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone'.

He said: "I suppose I'd go with the first. My little brother, when he was six years old, he would always read it, and it had that instant immersion into the world that made you release your imagination."

Redmayne - who is married to Hannah Bagshawe, with whom he has two-month-old daughter Iris - also opened up on what he most enjoyed about the making of his magical movie.

Unlike many actors, the Oscar winner particularly enjoyed acting with green screens and seeing the special effects added afterwards.

Redmayne - who appears in the project with Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman and Katherine Waterston - said: "When you're (casting spells on set), the effects of this huge tension of what's coming out of your wand is put (into the shot later) so you're literally acting with nothing. I found it so operatic and deeply moving. I found it climatically satisfying."
