Chloe Moretz has "never" liked being the centre of attention.

The 19-year-old actress has admitted despite having a successful career at the top of the film industry and dating 17-year-old Brooklyn Beckham - the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham - she doesn't like to be in the limelight because she is naturally shy.

Speaking to Miss Vogue about her personality, which is misconstrued as being "stand-offish", the 'The 5th Wave' star said: "Probably the biggest misconception about me is that I am a bit stand-offish. Actually, I am not that way. I am just shy. People can't believe that I am a bit shy. I never like to be the centre of attention at a party or event. It is difficult for people to understand that because I lead such a public life."

And Chloe has revealed the people who are closest to her describe her as a "total goof ball".

She explained: "My friends would probably describe me as a music maniac, funny and a total goof ball. They would also call me a foodie because I will try any cuisine.

"When I am not acting I am chilling with my friends or attending concerts (that is my passion) or going to hockey games."

Although Chloe has admitted she is a quiet person she has revealed she "tries" to be more outspoken with her support for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transsexual (LGBT) community and their fight against discrimination.

Speaking about the causes she backs, she said: "I support the LGBT community and try to be an outspoken voice for that. I am also passionate about female education in our world and am trying to promote that cause."
