NZ yachtsman, daughter found in Australia

Missing yachtsman Alan Langdon and his daughter Que, 6, have been found in Australia nearly a month after leaving New Zealand.

Missing yachtsman Alan Langdon and his six-year-old daughter Que have been found in Australia, according to a child recovery expert hired by the girls mother in New Zealand.

The 46-year-old father was last seen leaving Waikato's Kawhia Harbour with Que on December 17 while in the middle of a custody dispute with his former partner Ariane Wyler.

Child recovery expert Col Chapman told NZ Newswire a local spotted them in Ulladulla on the New South Wales coast, notifying authorities on Wednesday.

"We found him, we got him. It's really good news on all fronts," Mr Chapman said from Australia.

"They landed in our predicted target area within the timeframe. I don't want to be all 'I told you so' but ... they sailed straight in there,."

Ms Wyler is yet to talk to her daughter but is "over the moon" that she has been found and is believed to be "in perfect health", according to Mr Chapman.

"Mum hasn't talked to (Que) yet. No-one has other than the authorities. She's over the moon, she's thrilled," he said.

New Zealand Police confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that two people believed to be Mr Langdon and Que had been located.

Both are reported to be well and Mr Langdon is speaking to Australian authorities, police said in a statement.

Police called off an extensive search of sea and coastal areas between Wellington, Cape Reinga and the Bay of Islands last week believing they had sailed out of New Zealand waters.
