    Hunt for Greymouth sex offender continues

    One month after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a walkway in Greymouth, the hunt continues for a man who grabbed her from behind.


    Police are continuing to search for a man who grabbed a 14-year-old girl from behind on a Greymouth walkway and sexually assaulted her.

    The girl was attacked at about 5pm on January 16 while she was walking south on the West Coast Wilderness Trail in the Blaketown area of Greymouth, police say.

    The area is behind the BMX park and near the aerodrome of the West Coast town.

    Detective Sergeant Kirsten Norton said police continue to investigate the assault, and that there had been no further incidents in the area since.

    Police are also urging anyone with information to come forward and for people to always walk in pairs and share plans of where they intend to go with friends or family.
