    James Blunt thinks Liam Gallagher is miserable because he's never had as much sex as Mark Owen

    The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker insists there are far better benefits to being in a boy band than there are to landing critical acclaim and popularity within a rock group.


    He said: "Take That got laid more than Oasis, so join a boy band. No really, they did. I know you don't want to admit it but look at the stats.

    "An audience of beer-swilling lads arm in arm football-chanting 'Wonderwall' or an audience of screaming girls chasing you to your hotel, and breaking in through the fire escapes to get to you. Say what you like, but Mark Owen got more action than Noel and Liam combined. And he doesn't get drunk blokes coming up to him in the pub trying to be his mate. No wonder the Gallaghers are so miserable."

    The 42-year-old singer also believes he gets a lot of unfair criticism as having a "middle of the road" sound is far harder to achieve and maintain than people realise.

    He said: "Middle of the road is more dangerous than any other kind of music so f**k off with your whining.

    "It's all well and good you shouting from the safety of a pavement about how uncool MOR music is but then you can - you're on the pavement. We're the dudes who are living dangerously in the middle of the road, with oncoming traffic and no central reservation.

    "I'm like Nigel Mansell. You may think it's dull as f**k, but that's just because we make it look easy."

    And James doesn't really care if he doesn't have any more success as he's already made his fortune with 'You're Beautiful' and can relax and have a good time.

    He joked to Q magazine: "You only need one song. Some people take years and multiple albums to make their mark. F**k it. Live fast, let your career die young.

    "Take The Rolling Stones, for example. After all these years, they're still trying to achieve what 'You're Beautiful' did in just four weeks. They must be p***ed off.

    "I tried to introduce myself to Mick [Jagger] once and he was having none of it. I totally understand. I'm feet up by the pool while he's still slogging it out trying for the big one."
