Emma Watson says criticism has "really toughened" her up

She said: "There is a level of criticism that comes with being an actress and a public figure, which I expect but once you take a stance on something like feminism, that's a completely different ball game. It really toughened me up."

However, the 26-year-old actress doesn't want the focus to be on her but instead on making the world better.

She told the March issue of ELLE magazine: "Let’s see what we can do to ‘move the needle’ and make a difference."

It comes after Emma recently admitted she is a "sucker" for self-help books.

She shared: "I love it. I will get really excited reading something like Ariana Huffington's 'The Sleep Revolution'. I am a sucker for anything that promises to change my life."

And the brunette beauty has had numerous people ask her to write a book on feminism but insists she won't be doing something like that until she is older.

She said: "I need to see and do a bit more first. It's not like I have been reading this material for years and I don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge. It can be a lot of pressure sometimes, as people expect me to know so much.

"I'm no expert, and when people push me into a corner of 'Here's Emma Watson to lecture you on feminism', it's uncomfortable because I am aware I have a long way to go. I am not sure I deserve all the respect I get yet, but I'm working on it."
