Search resumes for missing Sounds diver

The search is set to resume for a diver who failed to surface in the Marlborough Sounds on Saturday morning.

Conditions are good and calm to proceed with the search for a diver missing in the Marlborough Sounds, police say.

Members of the Police National Dive Squad have joined the existing search teams this morning to look for the 49-year-old man.

Saturday's search was unsuccessful and was called off for the night around 8:30pm.

The man was reported missing about 10.20am after failing to resurface from a dive off a boat north of Stephens Island, Senior Sergeant Clare Robertson said.
