Gerard Beale is training at fullback again for Cronulla as the Sharks brace for the possibility of missing livewire Valentine Holmes for a second consecutive NRL match.
Holmes remains in doubt for Saturday's away trip to Canberra, and it's understood Sharks medical staff are extremely wary of pushing his injured hamstring before he is back to full fitness.
Kiwis international Beale, who played in the No.1 jersey in Thursday night's season-opening loss to Brisbane, again trained at the back on the Sharks return to training on Monday - and he's comfortable staying there.
"Personally I enjoy playing fullback. I like the role and the challenge that it has," Beale said.
"There are a lot of players here that can play a lot of different positions. You will find out over the year it might change a lot, so whatever is best for the team is what we need."
Beale has played 22 of his 143 games at the back, but has regularly started in the centres or off the bench since coming to Cronulla in 2015.
Holmes meanwhile looked comfortable running with the injury rehabilitation group on Monday.
He has only worn the No.1 jersey on four occasions - each in early 2015 - but is considered the logical replacement for fallen premiership-winner Ben Barba at the back.
