Tom Hiddleston and his Kong: Skull Island' co-stars went go-karting during shoot

The 36-year-old actor plays SAS operative Captain James Conrad in the creature feature in which he appears in with Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly among others.

The monster blockbuster was shot in Hawaii, Vietnam and Australia over five months and as the cast were away from friends and family on location, 27-year-old Brie took it upon herself to organise fun activities for everyone to do, but some days out were less fun for Tom than others.

In an interview with the London Evening Standard newspaper, he said: "We're from different places in the world, thrown together in the valley of a dormant volcano - you get close pretty quickly. We bonded off set. Brie organised weekends of activities, we'd go go-karting - I was terrible. Brie's actually really good at it."

When Tom was offered the role in 'Kong: Skull Island' he had no hesitation in accepting because he has loved the giant ape character since he was a child.

He shared: "I wanted to do it because it was an old-fashioned adventure and I'd never done anything like that before and I loved that type of film growing up. The monsters was part of it, but I loved Kong since I was a child. The combination of playing an explorer in an adventure film with this icon of movies was really appealing."

Although he is becoming synonymous with blockbusters due to his appearances as villain Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom insists he wants to take on as many diverse roles as possible.

He stated: "The actors I respected growing up seemed to pop up in different things - big pieces of entertainment, small arthouse films, theatre - and I think that it keeps it all fresh. I love it all and the idea I could get to make little bits of it all is appealing to me."
