    Dad who shot son sentenced to 12 years

    The man accused of murdering his son in northern Hawke's Bay in October has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars.


    The man accused of shooting dead his son at a farm in northern Hawke's Bay has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

    Dean Cole, 63, appeared at the High Court in Gisborne on Tuesday.

    He was found guilty of killing his 42-year-old son in the remote East Coast settlement of Mohaka in October when he shot him last year.

    Cole pleaded guilty to the murder at the High Court in Wellington in February.
