Faith Hill doesn't mind having wrinkles because it reminds her how she's "smiled a lot"

The 'There You'll Be' hitmaker - who turns 50 this year - isn't bothered about ageing as it reminds her of all the happy times she has had in her life.

She said: "He [her husband, Tim McGraw] likes when I have no makeup on and crazy-curly hair. Before I put it up in my ponytail, he always tells me to wear it down because it's his favourite.

"But I really do swear by the fact that if you are happy and if you spread that happiness, your skin will be rosy, your smile will be bigger, your eyes will be brighter - no matter what decade you are in; no matter what stage of life you are in. It's what I strive for.

"Take care of yourself; take care of your soul. I'm OK with having lines. I'm almost 50, I want people to know I've smiled a lot."

And Faith tries not to think negatively about her milestone birthday coming up in a matter of months as she doesn't want her daughters - Gracie, 19, Maggie, 18, and Audrey, 15 - to be given that kind of message.

She added to New Beauty magazine: "I honestly don't pay attention to it. If I did, my girls would notice and I don't want that. It's not a message I want them to have. The secret is being confident - with your age, with yourself. Life is so precious. We only have one; what's the point of stressing about all of that? Each decade has been different. Each day is a blessing. That's how I want to look at it ...

"Social media can be so cruel, but we've always emphasised the importance of having a realistic take and a healthy view regarding beauty to our girls. They know it's not just on the outside. It's really important to us to teach them that beauty is on the inside. People can see your heart by the expressions on your face and by the way you carry yourself - they can see your happiness."
