Ryan Gosling was left in fits of giggles after the Oscar mix-up that saw his movie 'La La Land' incorrectly named the Best Picture

He said: "What really was happening as I was watching, it was surreal anyway, I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd and guys were coming on with headsets and I felt like someone had been hurt.

"I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst-case scenario playing out in my head. And then I just heard 'Moonlight won' and I was so relieved that I started laughing."

And Ryan was thrilled 'Moonlight' triumphed in the category and holds no ill feelings towards the cast and crew of the rival movie.

Speaking with Adobe CMO Ann Lewnes at the Adobe Summit in Las Vegas on Wednesday (22.03.17), he added: "Truthfully, I was also so thrilled that 'Moonlight' won. I know the director [Barry Jenkins] ...

"I’ve worked with them before. It’s such a groundbreaking film, made for a million dollars, and incredible achievement and I’m so happy for them that they were being recognised."

Meanwhile, on Oscar night, Ryan's co-star Emma Stone picked up the Best Actress in a Leading Role award and in her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to the film's director Damien Chazelle and co-star Ryan.

She said: "I realise a moment like this is a huge confluence of luck and opportunity so I want to thank Damien Chazelle to be given the opportunity. Ryan Gosling, thank you for making me laugh and always raising the bar and being the best partner on this crazy adventure.

"To all the people that worked on this movie, I'm going to find you all individually and I'm going to thank you. I'm going to hug the hell out of you when the feeling re-enters my body. I still have a lot of growing and learning to do, and this guy (the Oscar statue) is a really beautiful symbol of continuing to do that."
