Liam Payne and Cheryl are "overjoyed" after becoming parents

The couple welcomed their first child together last week and friends of the pair say they are completely besotted with their little boy.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Cheryl and Liam are absolutely overjoyed with the new arrival. He is perfect in every way and there is a lot of love and happiness in their household.

"The whole family are over the moon.

"Cheryl has taken to motherhood really well, she is loving spending every minute with her new baby boy. He is her little Prince Charming.

"Cheryl had her mum close by and she has been an amazing support."

Cheryl, 33, gave birth at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with Liam, 23, by her side.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday: "Liam didn't leave Cheryl's side throughout the birth, and like her, he is besotted with their new son and can't wait to take him home.

"This is the perfect Mother's Day for Cheryl.

"Liam was determined to support Cheryl at every step of the way, and did everything to make sure she was ok.

"This is a wonderful time for them, and they are both ecstatic to be parents. It's an incredibly exciting new chapter in their lives.

"Their family and friends are also delighted by the news and can't wait to meet their little one."

And Liam's sister Nicola hinted that she has already met her new nephew.

She tweeted: "What a lovely day today has been!!! I honestly didn't know love at first sight until today. Xx (sic)."

His mother Karen wrote on Instagram: "Finally I can boast that I am a grandmother! The happiest grandmother. I'm very proud of my children.

"Everything I've been doing lately is crying, because I'm very happy, now I have the most beautiful grandson in the world… Thanks God (sic)."

Meanwhile, Cheryl's former Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine Coyle took to Twitter to share her delight for the pair, tweeting: "Congratulations @CherylOfficial I am so so happy for you & your precious little boy & family! Sending you loads of love! (sic)."
