Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli have tied the knot

The 'Orange Is The New Black' star married Lauren, who is a writer on the show, on Saturday, March 25 in Palm Springs, six months after getting engaged.

The location of their wedding was of particular significance to the couple as it was where they got engaged back in 2016.

The event was planned by Beth Helmstetter Events, who followed the brides' wishes to have a colourful and confetti themed big day. Samira and Lauren were also keen for their wedding to be non-traditional, fun and inspired by Funfetti cake.

The pair walked down the aisle to Justin Bieber's 'Baby' whilst 'This Is How We Do It' was also played at the lavish wedding. The outdoor ceremony had a personal touch, too, as it was officiated by Samira's parents.

Following the ceremony, the happy couple danced the night away with guests at the reception, which was decorated with lights, garlands and stunning floral bouquets for the table.

The wooden tables were decorated with black and white plates, completing the look with white and gold cutlery and a mix of different coloured glasses, Martha Stewart Weddings magazine reports.

Meanwhile, the couple previously announced their engagement in a sweet message on social media.

Sharing a picture of the pair posing with her ring, Samira simply captioned it: "Yes."

Whilst Lauren took to Twitter to thank their fans for the celebratory messages, adding: "You guys! Thank you for all of the lovely messages and hysterical crying gifs. We love you too!"

The couple had been dating since 2014 following Lauren's split from her husband Steve Basilone after two years of marriage.

Lauren came out in May 2014 in a frank essay, where she opened up about when she realised she was gay.

She wrote at the time: "I realised I was gay in fall 2012, one of my first days on the set. It wasn't so much one thing, but the sum of many small details: how uncomfortable I felt around groups of lesbians or how I considered myself a "not very sexual person." When considered alone, these seemed like little quirks that made me me. Wanting to read a book instead of have sex is a perfectly reasonable preference to have, right?"
