Perez Hilton is trying to launch an acting career and has had several auditions for new pilots

The 37-year-old celebrity blogger has been diversifying his career in recent years branching into reality television, including a controversial appearance on the UK version of 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2015.

Perez is now trying out for some serious small screen roles for a host of top secret projects although he admits he has had a lot of rejections.

In an interview on 'The Scott McGlynn Show' podcast, he spilled: "In Los Angeles right now - we are at the tail end of it now, it's almost over - but there's this period of time called pilot season where the networks produce a bunch of these standalone shows called pilots - if they like the pilot then they'll order a full series commitment to air on the network, so they do it all at the same time from January to end of March and I've been going on a bunch of auditions for pilots ... I can't say what [I've auditioned for] I mean I haven't booked anything, so I don't want to say what I didn't get, but I didn't get a lot, it's hard. Imagine there's so many actors, from unknown actors to known actors, competing for these same parts, I'm really so grateful to get in the room, to me that's already a win ... I've gotten great feedback from my agent and the casting directors so I'm happy."

Perez studied at acting school back in the 1990s and he's glad that he's now gone back to it in his late 30s.

He said: "I've done a lot of acting over the years, I actually went to school for acting back in the 90s which is such a long time ago. It's exciting for me to do more acting, and a full 360, full-circle moment. I've been auditioning a lot and I would love to do more."

Although he would love to get on a TV show, Perez says his main priority in life is caring for his two children, four-year-old son Mario and 22-month-old daughter Mia, and nothing comes ahead of them.

He said: "I work harder than anybody I know, so hard. I put in the hours and that's really what it's all about ... For me, my kids are my number one priority and then my work but everything else suffers - like relationships suffer, friendships suffer. My kids are my number one, then work but I still work like a crazy person."
