    Hamilton murder-accused wife denies charge

A 61-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband in Hamilton has pleaded not guilty.

A Hamilton woman accused of stabbing her husband to death in March has denied the crime.

Carol Wiremu Waa, 61, is charged with the murder of Gerald Wiremu Waa, 55, whose body was recovered from the couple's Te Aroha Street flat in Hamilton East.

She has entered a plea of not guilty in the High Court at Hamilton on Tuesday and was further remanded in custody until her next appearance on July 4.

Her lawyer, Kerry Burroughs, has sought further time to discuss report with his client to determine whether to proceed with or adjourn the trial set down for August 28.
