Name secrecy for Waikato murder accused

The man accused of murdering Waikato woman Kim Richmond has been granted name suppression at his first court appearance.

The 45-year-old man charged with the murder of Waikato woman Kim Richmond has kept his name secret following his first court appearance.

He was granted interim name suppression when he appeared in Hamilton District Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on July 4.

Mother-of-three Ms Richmond, 42, was last seen at her Arohena farm, west of Tokoroa, on July 31 last year.

It's alleged she was killed some time between then and August 2 last year at nearby Wharepapa South.

Her body was discovered in her Ford Ranger Ute which was recovered from Lake Arapuni on Thursday last week.

Police on Monday revealed they had charged the 45-year-old with murder.
