    Missing Raglan hiker found

A man who failed to show up after hiking Raglan's Te Toto Gorge track on Sunday has been found by helicopter crew using night-vision goggles.

A tramper who fell during a walk near Raglan on Waikato's west coast has been rescued by helicopter after spending nearly two nights in the open.

The 40-year-old man was reported overdue from the Te Toto Gorge track on Sunday and searchers on foot were unable to find him on Monday.

Crew from the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter, using night vision goggles, found the man just after midnight on Tuesday morning.

"He had apparently slipped off the track and fallen down a cliff, from where he unable to climb back up," a helicopter spokeswoman said in a statement.

He was treated for hypothermia and cuts before being flown to Waikato Hospital.
