    Sexual attack in Queenstown

A woman has been sexually violated in her Queenstown home by a man who probably entered through an unsecured front door.

A woman has been sexually attacked in her bedroom in Queenstown by a man thought to have a foreign accent.

Police want anyone who saw suspicious activity around the Mackinnon Terrace, Fernhill Road intersection between 1.30am and 2.45am on Sunday to come forward.

The man may have followed the woman as she walked along Fernhill Road between Sainsbury Road and Mackinnon Terrace and then entered her house through an unsecured front door, says Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron.

The woman was alone and the attacker fled through a bathroom window after her phone rang repeatedly.

The woman is being supported by her partner.

The attacker is described as a dark-skinned male of average height, with an athletic build and non-Kiwi accent.

He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Police are urging people to secure their homes, saying the attack is extremely concerning.
