A woman who went missing in a Canterbury reserve, after wandering off from her family, has been found.
Monique Hickland, 31, was found by two tourists who were walking on a track in the Mount Thomas Forest Conservation Area, Waimakariri, early on Tuesday morning, police say.
They walked her out of the bush and took her to search and rescue staff around 8am.
She spent the night near the top of the mountain and was walking herself down the hill when the tourists found her.
On Monday afternoon Ms Hickland, who was described as having the understanding of a 12- to 13-year-old, left her family near the Wooded Gully picnic area.
Five search and rescue teams, dog teams and a helicopter combed the area until 3am but were unable to find any signs of her.
