Liam Payne wants to buy a yacht in honour of his girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy

The 'Strip that Down' hitmaker - who has five-month-old son Bear with the former Girls Aloud singer - admitted that, if he were to splash out on a luxury boat, he'd name the vessel after his partner.

Asked by a fan on US radio show 'Most Requested Live' what he'd name a yacht if he had one, he said: "I would name it The Cheryl because that's my Mrs' name and that's the only thing I can think of right now. So there you go babe. There's a yacht for you."

While Cheryl kept a low profile throughout her pregnancy and after Bear's birth, the 24-year-old singer has made a number of public pronouncements about their relationship and he admitted he often says "too much".

Asked what his 'warning label' would say, he said: "I think my warning label would probably say 'Please close mouth often', because often too much is said."

Liam is smitten with his 34-year-old girlfriend and particularly loves the way her hair smells.

He gushed: "I would have to say my girlfriend's hair [is my favourite smell]. Gotta be. Or my little boy, baby smell is just the best smell ever."

And the One Direction star praised the 'Only Human' hitmaker for her recent efforts to make his birthday extra special.

He said: "Recently I had a birthday out in Majorca and my girlfriend had flown over all my friends and family to come and see me, I don't often get to see them, so it was really nice to spend time with them."

Liam expects his son may want to use his middle name instead of his unusual forename as he gets older.

He said: "Bear's middle name is Grey, and I think it might be his nickname when he's older, bless him, but we'll see what happens."
