Man pleads not guilty to attacking police

A man facing a raft of charges relating to his alleged ramming of a police car in Coromandel has pleaded not guilty.

A Hamilton man accused of trying to run over a policeman in the Coromandel last month has entered not guilty pleas to a raft of charges.

Pierre Anglem, 37, allegedly rammed the officer's patrol car several times after a friend's stolen Holden was pulled over on August 28.

The officer then fired several shots into the back windscreen of Anglem's Subaru.

Anglem has been charged with threatening to kill, possessing an offensive weapon, aggravated assault, assault with a blunt instrument and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

Anglem's co-accused, Yazmine Weetman-Norris, has also entered not guilty pleas to the charges she is facing as the alleged driver of the Holden.

The 27-year-old has been charged with two counts of burglary, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, unlawfully escaping custody and shoplifting.

She was remanded on bail while Anglem has been remanded in custody. Both will reappear in Thames District Court on October 9.
