    Quake City opens in Christchurch

A Christchurch exhibition, Quake City, is reopening its doors to explain the phenomenon of the earthquakes which hit the region seven years ago.

Quake City is telling the stories of heroism, hope and loss from the Canterbury earthquakes, as it reopens its doors.

The visitor attraction is up and running, and delves into the science behind earthquakes, such as liquefaction, and also includes objects which have defined the Canterbury earthquakes.

The exhibition, located on Durham Street, also charts the aftermaths of the September 4, 2010 and February 22, 2011 earthquakes and the response of the emergency services, international rescue teams and thousands of volunteers who pitched in to help.

The rebuild section of the exhibition brings the visitors up to date with progress in regenerating the city and the recovery projects underway.
