Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn are "like the same person"

The German supermodel hit it off with the British director - with whom she has son Caspar, 14, and daughters Clementine, 12, and Cosima, seven - as soon as they met because they are so similar.

She said: "We met on a blind date and immediately noticed we're cut from the exact same tree.

"Even though we grew up in completely different countries, we're like the same person."

The family live in Suffolk, East England, and embrace a quiet life.

Claudia said: "I love the quintessential English lifestyle of playing board games in front of the fire, eating Marmie on toast with a mug of PG Tips and going for long walks with friends."

And the 47-year-old beauty is relieved she achieved career success before the Instagram age, where stars have their lives played out on social media.

She said: "The new normal is that you share so much more with so many people.

"I'm very happy that my career wasn't based on this, because I don't think I would have been very good at it, being the type of person I am - shy and reserved."

Even when she was at school, Claudia always felt shy and lacked confidence.

She recalled to Harper's Bazaar magazine of her teenage years: "I was so awkward I found it hard to make friends at school, and often at breaktime I would cycle home and wait until it was over."

As a result, Claudia - who was discovered in a nightclub in 1987 - always felt "supermodel" was a very fitting term for her.

She explained: "When I first heard the term 'supermodel' I couldn't help laughing, it felt so apt

"There I was playing at being Superman when I was working, but in real life I was actually Clark Kent."
