Sir Rod Stewart is going to meet the Pope

The 'Maggie May' singer pledged an impressive £15,000 at the Pinktober Gala, which was held at The Dorchester Hotel in London on Friday (13.10.17), during an auction presided over by Lord Jeffrey Archer.

The lot reads: "This is a very rare chance to watch Papal Mass as a personal guest of the Pope himself as he delivers a rousing Mass to the gathered audience from a raised pulpit - right beside this, the winner will be situated in the VIP area reserved for a select number of hand-picked guests, all personally approved by His Holiness. After Mass, Pope Francis visits his waiting guests in this exclusive area, stopping to take and give benedictions.

"You will have the privilege of a private tour of the Sistine Chapel after closure, where the Swiss Guard will open the Vatican gates just for you and your party - with your expert guide leading you through the corridors of the city. You will also be taken on private tours of the Vatican Museum and the Basilica with no one but your guide to disturb you, as well as normally restricted areas such as the Necropolis below the Basilica. All guests will also receive an incredibly rare, personalised and hand-written benediction from Pope Francis to take away as a momento or gift!"

Rod kicked off bidding earlier in the night by pledging £4,000 for a caviar and champagne experience at luxurious London hotel The Ritz whilst his wife Penny Lancaster helped to drive up the bids for the second lot - an exciting morning at ITV visiting 'Good Morning Britain' and 'Loose Women' - by promising the winner she and her fellow 'Loose Women' panellist Gloria Hunniford would join them for lunch.

The Pinktober Gala raises money for the Caron Keating Foundation, set up in memory of Gloria Hunniford's late daughter who passed away in 2004 after a battle with breast cancer. Sophie Ellis Bextor provided entertainment at the event whilst Richard Madeley hosted.
