Liam Payne has praised his girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy as a “fantastic” mum

The 24-year-old singer and the former Girls Aloud member welcomed their son Bear into the world back in March, and whilst Cheryl revealed recently that she “hated” the process of being pregnant, Liam has said she couldn’t be a better mother to their tot.

He said: “She didn’t enjoy [pregnancy] as much as she thought she would. There’s a lot of things people don’t tell you about this pregnancy business that happen.

“She went through different things with it, especially coming out of it, but she did great.

“She’s the most fantastic mum, which was no shock to me. I knew she was going to be incredible.

“When I look back on it, it was crazy that I went back to work really early on.”

The ‘Bedroom Floor’ singer went back to working on his hotly anticipated debut solo album shortly after Bear’s birth, and now that his 34-year-old partner is gearing up to head back into the studio herself, Liam is supporting her in any way he can.

He added to The Sun newspaper: “She’s got to do what she’s got to do. Honestly, she’s been so supportive of everything I’ve done so far.

“We’re all edging for her to get back to work, it’s just finding the right time and the right way to do things.

“This is the first time she’s been away from the industry for a long period of time in her whole career and sometimes that’s a beautiful thing to have.

“She’s got the opportunity to choose exactly what she wants to do and I think it’s great.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl recently admitted she disliked being pregnant, but insisted the past six months of motherhood have been “amazing”.

She said: "It changes your life completely but in the most amazing way. But I've had the best six months of my life. Really.

"I hated being pregnant. A lot of stuff went on and I just didn't enjoy it...

"I didn't stop for 14 years - literally on the roller coaster. And then when I got pregnant I thought, 'Right, I just don't need this stress.' So I relaxed."
