Police plan to charge a second person with murder over a death at a Papatoetoe boarding house, a court has been told.
Forty-year-old Jima Shemaon Zaya was found dead at a Carruth Road home on the evening of May 20.
The man arrested afterwards, Mohammed Shaiyaz Shaheem, also 40, appeared at the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday, where it was confirmed he would be standing trial for three weeks in May next year.
Prosecutor Evan McCaughan told the court police had also been looking to charge a second person with murder over the incident.
But the matter had been delayed due to other cases, he said.
Comment has been requested from police.
